Couple Charged £11,000 For ‘Friends’ Download

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job’s a joke, you’re broke, your wife’s not gonna pay

Here’s a story to encourage mobile phone users to check the terms and conditions of their tariff if ever we heard one. An executive couple have received a bill of £11,000 after downloading four episodes of the sitcom Friends using their mobile phone.

The wife of the City executive used her husband’s “unlimited” phone broadband package in order to download the programmes – a process which would have been completely free if carried out in the UK. However, whilst the download was still going ahead the husband travelled over to Germany on a business trip, meaning the download completed whilst roaming overseas. Foreign download rates of (more…)
